Week 5 : The Amazing Race (3)

This is my last article talk about the amazing race. I have introduced this show last two week, and today I'm going to talk about different countries' version and the reason why I like it.

In addition to the U.S. version (the original and the longest version), there are about 12 versions ever existed, like Asia, Australia, Latin ... (no longer in production) and China, Canada, Israel, and Philippines (still in production). Different versions are roughly the same, but they may have some special items and rules or may not go outside the country due to the funds. Like voting U-Turn (the team be u-turned was determined by the vote from all teams) and Face Off (teams need to compete against other teams, the winner can go while the loser need to wait another team and compete again ).

Sadly, Taiwan have no official version, there are only fans edition which is an activity made by the fans of reality show.

In the show we can see many beautiful landscape and understand unique custom, sometimes we can
see contestant learning the local traditional techniques, eating their food or we can watch the real life the locals have. Watch this just like have a trip around the world, the real funny part of it can be experienced only by watch it. If you have time, I really recommend you to watch it.

Week 4 : The Amazing Race (2)

Hi everyone, this week I continued from last week's article, I will talk about more items in the amazing race.

Prize or punishment:

The winner of a leg will receive prize, in the early leg of a season (instead of prize like trip, cars, money etc.)  the prize will be something special like:
Expresss pass: Contestents can use it to skip a task.
The save: Contestents can use it to prevent elimination.
Double your money: If this team win this season they will win two million dollars.

There are also some punishment:
Hazard: It is a additional mission give to the last team to finish the start line task.
Speed bump: In some leg the last team to arrived won't be eliminated and they need to compete this extra mission sometimes in the next leg.

Obstacles:
Sometimes teams will meet the following things which may affect they:

Yield
Teams who arrive at this sign can choose to yield another team(teams can only use this power once in the game), if the yielded team arrive at yield they need to stop for a period of time (about 15 minute) only when the time pass they can go back to the game.

U-Turn
U-Turn will appear after a detour, teams who use the u-turn can force another teams to do another detour which they don't want to do at first (teams can only use this power once in the game). And it has a variant, "Blind u-turn" which teams cann't know which team u-turn themself.

Week 3 : The Amazing Race (1)

This week I'm going to introduce my favorite reality show: The Amazing Race

This competition is a race around the world, in one season there are typically 11 teams of 2, they will compete in 12 legs, the first team to cross the finish line will win the game and get one million dollars. Now season 27 is broadcasting in American.

leg

Each leg, teams will get several clues in the envelope, and they need to open it and finish the mission, once they finish it they can get another clue. One leg will end in the pit stop while the first team to arrive can win some prize and the last team to arrive may be eliminated.

Route marker
This sign will put in the place where teams need to go.

There are several kinds of clues:

Route info: This clue will tell contestants where to go next and what mission they need to do, sometimes it won't tell the place directly but provide some trail like photo.

Roadblock: This clue will give a question like "Who's ready to play telephone?", and teams need to choose one member to do this challenge only by the question, after they had made choice they can know what is this challenge (teams can not change their choice).

Detour: This clue will provide two mission like "River Delivery or Run Through the Jungle" and teams need to decide which one to do (they can change their choice).

Fast forward: This clue will give to teams with other clue sometime, teams need to decide whether to do Fast forward or not, if teams can finish fast forward mission first, they can skip all the other challenges and go to the pit stop while teams who fail this will need to go back to do the normal task.

Week 2 : Reality shows in Taiwan's channel

After watch my last post, I think you have a rough idea of what is reality competition show. Maybe some of you even want to see it, besides watch it online, you can also watch it on TV.  Here I'm going to tell you where you can find them.

AXN (67)

The voice(美國好聲音)

It is a well-known music competition,four coaches need to decide who to become their team members only by their voice, after their team formed, singers will battle one-to-one and coaches will eliminated one, while other coaches can steal their losing member. Last few episode will be the live show and viewers can decide who win who lose. If you like singing it is a great show for you.

Total blackout(恐懼大挑戰)
Each episode four teams compete in three chanllenges, after each chanllenge the worst team will be eliminated, the last standing team will win. They need to complete some missons like identify what is in the box,what are you eating, what is around your face or they need to cross the  balance beam, but the most interesting things is they need to do these things in a total black room.  

    

The apprentice Asia (誰是接班人:亞洲篇)
Contestents of two teams need to complete the project each week, like sale commodity, held the auction or shoot video, while the contestents who do the worst will be fired. Who has the best business acumen, communication skills, creative ability will win the contest. And get a well-paid job in Airasia.

Face off(變臉大車拼)
Several special effects makeup artists are compete in this show, each week they need to complete the misson, the person who make the worst looks will be eliminated.

Project runway(決戰時裝伸展台)

It is a competition between fashion designers, if you want to see the most fashion  clothing and its manufacturing process, this is the show I recommend you to watch.
